mongodb MMS Service Question

I'm currently investigating utilizing the mongodb MMS option on our company instance of mongodb.

One question that has come up is "where" the backups can be saved.

Can the backups be saved on a separate disk drive on a current server where mongodb is currently running?

Are the backups required to be saved on another sever?

I believe MMS configures the backups only for S3 currently, frankly saving to another drive connected to the computer might not be a good option, especially if you suffer from a software fault which causes corruption on that disk and your primary.

MMS saves its copy of your data in our data centers. You can have restore files delivered to any SCP endpoint that is reachable on the public Internet, or you can download it yourself using HTTPS onto anything which can download HTTPS files from the public Internet.

Is it possible to stipulate "where" our data is saved?  We can not have our data saved within the US... we currently have our production servers in Ireland.

I'm afraid it is not possible at this time. Currently we only have datacenters in the US.

If you have a MongoDB subscription that supports it, you could install MMS On-Prem and run it wherever you like.
