Not sure if it was posted here, as I couldn't find a thread on it. (and surprised there isn't one). If it was already posted, sorry. But, it doesn't hurt to mention it again.
MongoDB has come up with an excellent idea as a memorial to William Zola, who touched so many MongoDB customers' lives with his very unique and skillful support. Please read more and participate.
I think this is a great idea. Very thoughtful and a great way to honor William and his work.
One thing though, I'd like answered by Mongo staff. Is the competition for non-MongoDB staff only or can staff also be nominated for the award?

Hi Scott,
Thanks for posting about this! I also thought there was already a thread, but couldn't find one :-/.

MongoDB employees are not eligible for the "Zola"; the award is for community contributors. There's also a mention of this at the bottom of the blog post you linked ;-).
Thanks for pointing out the non-eligibility of employees.
One thing though, I wanted to nominate someone, but I don't know their email address. I can't ask them either, because of the system here. I don't want to ask in a public thread, so what to do?

Hi Scott,
All of the fields on the Zola nomination form are currently optional, so if you can provide the details you're aware of we can get in touch with the nominees.
Including links to some of their posts/contributions would be helpful, too.
A reminder to submit your nominations for the Zola award! We'll be closing nominations on November 10, so please nominate your community champions ASAP!
We look forward to awarding the first Zola at MongoDB SF on December 4! If you'll be in the Bay Area, you can get your early bird tickets for the event now.
Thanks to all who have nominated champions thus far!
