CDRIVER: UNIX domain sockets

Has anyone tried using UNIX sockets w/ the CDRIVER on Mac OS X? I'm using client = mongoc_client_new("mongodb:///tmp/mongodb-27017.sock"); and get a "Failed to connect to UNIX domain socket" error.

Despite the documentation, mongod creates /tmp/mongodb-27017.sock and not /tmp/mongodb.sock.
